Term:
Keyword Density for Search Engine Optimization
AKA: Keyword Stuffing (Socius Marketing does not use Keyword Stuffing, and we do not refer to our optimization technique this way.)
Definition: Keyword density refers
to the number of times a specific keyword/phrase is
used on a page. For example, if we wrote a 1000-word
page on depression, and we wanted to hit a 4% keyword
density, then 40 of the 1000 words on the page would
be “depression.”
"Keyword stuffing" refers to writing at an extremely high keyword density. When a site utilizes keyword stuffing, it reduces the quality of the content on the page and looks like spam to a search engine, often causing that site to be penalized or even banned, thereby defeating the purpose of the attempted optimization.
Miscellaneous Information: We never
speak of what actual keyword densities are. They are
calculated by research conducted on the desired term
and the industry in which we are trying to compete.
