Term:
Cached by Search Engines
AKA: Indexed, Saved
Definition: Cache refers to the pages
of your website saved by internet search engines.
Search engines actually store copies of every page
of your website on their servers (once they have spidered
it). It is these cached pages that search engines
use to deliver search results. In some cases, not
all the pages within a site are cached. This can take
place when the pages are very new, are coded poorly,
or link structure prohibits the spidering of pages
by search engines.
Miscellaneous Information: You can
view the cached versions of web pages two ways. First
you can simply conduct a search in Google, go down
to the results, and look for the link that says “Cache.”
Or, if you have the Google Toolbar you can go the
Page Rank dropdown menu and view it there.
